JAKARTA WhatsApp is testing a new feature that can make it easier for users to create status. Thanks to this new feature, users can share the media with WhatsApp Status from other applications.

This update was discovered by WABetaInfo in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.20.3 on Android devices. WhatsApp is testing this feature to simplify the status update process so users don't need to exit the open app.

This feature will be seen when the user presses the sharing button on a number of apps on Android devices. They will see the 'My Status' option with the WhatsApp logo. This feature can be seen on the share button in the gallery or third-party app.

When pressing the Status of My button, images or videos will not be uploaded immediately. Users will be directed to the status update editor page first. On that page, users can add text, emoji, and stickers.

This process is much more efficient than it is currently in effect. Users must go through several stages to upload the media, from storing images or videos in the gallery to searching for their media through the status update page.

This new ability is very useful for sharing temporary content such as screenshots or spontaneous photos. Users can immediately share their photos without the need to permanently store the files in the gallery.

This feature is being tested on a small part of WhatsApp beta users. In the near future, WhatsApp will expand this feature to more users before launching its features in the public version.

It is not yet known whether WhatsApp will present this capability on iOS-based devices. For now, the feature is only visible to WhatsApp users on Android devices.
