JAKARTA - The Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Indonesia (Komdigi), ecosystem partners, and Huawei have launched a program to increase the knowledge of digital talent in Indonesia.

This training program aims to improve the skills and abilities of those who work in the field of installation and operation of telecommunications equipment, especially in 5G technology in order to be in line with industrial needs and technological advances.

"Through an end-to-end training program that includes basic knowledge material to advanced skills, it will support the realization of the Government's targets in realizing an inclusive digital ecosystem," said I Nyoman Adhiarna, Secretary of the Komdigi Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) in a statement on Tuesday, July 1.

In addition to 5G implementation, the program also includes health and safety compliance in the workplace, by introducing an efficient and digital field implementation methodology for local subcontractor teams.

More than 40 technicians attended the first batch of training held at the Huawei ASEAN Academy (Technical Institute) at CIBIS Park in South Jakarta. In the next six months, more than 3 thousand technicians will take part in the next training series.

Vice President, Huawei Indonesia Management Transformation, Jeffrey Wang, said that as a provider of global ICT infrastructure, Huawei can facilitate the transfer of knowledge about 5G use and practice cases to improve local talent capabilities.

According to him, building a digital infrastructure that is resilient and fostering skilled human resources is equally important to achieve the long-term digital economy's goals.

"Our collective goal is to nurture talents who are ready to face the future, contribute to creating quality local jobs, and directly support the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045," said Jeffrey.

To date, Huawei has coached more than 127,000 digital talents during five years in collaboration with government ministries, industry, suppliers, and more than 118 universities.
