JAKARTA WhatsApp recently added ads to its Status and Channel platforms. To maximize its advertising performance, the messaging app will provide controls to set its content type.
This new feature is seen in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.19.14 for Android devices. Found for the first time by WABetaInfo, this feature is designed so that users can control the ads they see. Ads will be personalized based on user preferences.
Users can access this feature via the Update tab and in the settings. By visiting the Ad Preferences menu, users can see detailed information about all the ads they see and a list of ads displayed to users in recent days.
In the ad information section, users can see the type of ad content they see in Status and Channels. WhatsApp will include the date of its appearance on the side. Users can choose the ad they want to follow or avoid.
Meanwhile, in the history of users' advertisements, they can set the ads they want to hide permanently. That way, unwanted advertisements will no longer be visible in the Status feed or Channel in the future.

At the top of the Advertising Preferences menu, WhatsApp warns that private messages and all user personal information will remain protected. The reason is, WhatsApp is still implementing an end-to-end message encryption system.
"Personal messages, calls, and status will be end-to-end encrypted and cannot be used to display ads (on your personal account)," wrote WhatsApp.
This feature is still being explored and it is not yet known when it will be launched. However, judging from the development of its features that are ready to be released, WhatsApp is likely to present its features in the upcoming version of the update.
