JAKARTA - Microsoft has just released a Work Trend Index 2025 report, highlighting how artificial intelligence (AI) changes the business landscape and the way people work in Indonesia.
This report reveals that 97% of business leaders in Indonesia believe 2025 is a crucial moment to review business strategy and operations in essence.
About 63% of business leaders stated that productivity should be increased, but 88% of the workforce, both employees and business leaders, admit a lack of time or energy to complete their work.
To overcome this, 95% of business leaders expressed confidence in the use of AI agents as members of the supporting digital team in the next one to two years.
In fact, more than half or about 52%, making increasing the capacity of teams with digital workers a top priority, followed by capacity building through upskilling.
In the next five years, business leaders expect their teams to carry out new tasks: 48% hope AI will redesign the work process, 63% plan to build multi-agent systems, 69% will focus on training, and 58% will manage AI agents directly.
Along with the shift in the way the team works, 65% of managers in Indonesia estimate that AI training and upskilling will be an important part for their team in the future.
However, there is still an understanding gap, where although 87% of leaders already understand the AI agent concept, meanwhile, only 56% of employees have the same level of understanding.

"The gap in understanding AI between leaders and employees is not just a number", said President Director of Microsoft Indonesia, Dharma Simorangkir, in his statement.
To bridge this gap is very important to ensure the inclusive and long-term adoption of AI for employment, by investing in human resource development (HR).
"This is the time for us to invest in humans, develop new skills, and build a work culture where everyone is ready to become an agent for boss," added Dharma.
