JAKARTA - Google Gemini, Android's flagship AI assistant, will now be present on wireless audio devices such as Samsung's Galaxy Buds 3 and a number of earbuds from Sony. So far, although Gemini have been integrated into various Android smartphones, support for earbuds is still limited but this situation will soon change.
Samsung and Google confirmed that the Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Watch will get Gemini support in the next few months. Although there is no definite schedule yet, it is likely that this feature will be available before the end of 2025.
The move also marks the gradual elimination of Google Assistant. Samsung explains that Gemini offers a more natural and complex response, surpassing a short answer limit from Google Assistant. For example, you can ask Gemini to remember the location of a store of an item, or summarize a live email from Galaxy Watch something Google Assistant cannot do.
For Galaxy Buds 3, users can access Gemini via voice commands or touch control (pinch & hold) connected to Galaxy phones. Even though they don't have a visual display like the screen, Buds 3 can still carry out voice-based commands and interactions with Gemini.

Apart from Samsung, Google also announced that a number of Sony earbuds will gain Gemini access. However, there are no further details regarding which models will be supported.
The move is part of Google Gemini's massive expansion, which is now starting to reach cars, TVs and Pixel Watch devices.
Although currently only the Galaxy Buds 3 are specifically mentioned, it is likely that the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra models will also support Gemini. Old device users still have to wait for further confirmation whether they will participate in this advanced feature.
