JAKARTA - After being identified as one of the main competitors of ChatGPT, the AI company Anthropic is now reportedly preparing to launch a voice assistant feature for their flagship product, Claude AI. This feature will bring Claude closer to competing with OpenAI's ChatGPT capabilities, which have already presented voice-based interactions more than a year ago.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Claude's voice assistant feature could begin to be tested on a limited basis this month. This was reinforced by Mike Kreiger's statement, Anthropic's Chief Product Officer, in an interview with the Financial Times last month.

He revealed that they do have an internal prototype for the voice feature. "We will do the voice internally too; this is a useful form of interaction," he said.

However, at that time, there was no definite information on when this feature would be released to the public. Now, the latest reports indicate that the launch may be closer than expected.

The sophistication of AI Voice Assistant

If previously digital assistants such as Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant were only able to respond based on keywords, then the generative AI era brought a new revolution. Claude AI and ChatGPT, for example, are able to respond by understanding natural contexts and languages, making conversations feel more humane, it seems like talking to hotel friends or receptions.

Google even overhauled their assistant system by introducing Gemini, as an effort to compete with AI like Claude and ChatGPT.

With Claude's entry into the realm of voice assistants, the competition will be even tighter in this sector. Especially because users now want more natural interactions, not just orders like What's the weather today? or rah to the office.

Until now, it has not been clear whether Claude's voice feature will be available to all users, or only paid subscribers. Currently, Claude can be accessed for free, but also has a paid subscription rate "Obviously Pro for 20 US dollars per month, and Claude Team for an additional 200 US dollars per month.

Seeing the trend in the industry, it is very likely that this voice feature will be given to premium users before it is widely available to all groups.

Claude Gets Closer To ChatGPT

Although OpenAI first appeared in the market and has a strong marketing strategy, Claude of Anthropic often received praise for the quality of his superior language processing. Adding voice features will be an important step in perfecting user experience, as well as answering requests for more intuitive and humane interactions.

If this launch is successful and Claude's voice feature is well received, then the AI competition is not just about text anymore, but about who is the most human in speaking.

We'll just have to wait and see when Anthropic will officially release this voice assistant, and whether Claude will actually become a balanced opponent, maybe even superior to ChatGPT.
