JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) through the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) developed an online platform called the National COVID-19 Volunteer (RECON). With the aim of facilitating health volunteer activities in the midst of the corona virus pandemic.

The web-based platform developed by the Directorate General of Higher Education's Information and Communication Technology team facilitates health volunteers to be able to provide Communication, Information and Education (IEC) services as well as online assistance to the community. Nizam explained that RECON's consulting and mentoring services will be carried out by volunteers from health students and doctors as case managers (CM).

"The implementation of this platform will be mostly in the Medical Faculties which are connected within the Indonesian Medical Education Association, and undergraduate students who are coordinated through the Indonesian Medical Student Senate Association," explained Nizam.

RECON can be accessed via THIS link. People who access this service will be asked to fill in biodata, clinical symptoms, risk factors, and contact information. RECON asked for the data to be given honestly in order to help the mentoring process.

Meanwhile, the Director of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) Aris Junaidi revealed that currently more than 15 thousand student volunteers and medical personnel have joined. They will be tasked with conducting online socialization related to COVID-19.

With details consisting of 2,136 medical / health personnel, 1,062 co-assisted students or who are currently studying the Indonesian medical profession, 2,493 undergraduate medical students, 461 pharmacy students, 315 midwifery students, 1,272 nursing students, 744 public health students, and 3,031 students in other health fields.

"There are also 2,739 non-health students and 1,442 groups of the general public who are involved as volunteers," added Aris.

The assignment of student volunteers is carried out in stages as needed. Where these volunteers will provide assistance and consultation online via WhatsApp or other applications.
