JAKARTA - Together with Digital Infrastructure Asia (BDIA), Southeast Asia's leading digital infrastructure platform, announced the establishment of a joint venture (JV) company with Digital Realty, the world's largest data center solution provider.

The JV company, which is named Digital Reality Bersama (DRB), will officially be owned in a balanced manner (50:50) by the two companies, to develop and operate data centers throughout Indonesia.

BDIA will contribute to the Jakarta-based carrier-neutral data center platform, namely the Joint Digital Data Center (BDDC), to the joint company.

BDDC is led by experienced management teams, including Chief Executive Officer Angelo Syailendra, and Chairman Setyanto Hantoro, both of whom will then lead the Digital Realty Together.

Meanwhile, Krishna Worotikan, a former Country Chief Financial Officer of Microsoft Indonesia, joined as Chief Financial Officer at the JV company.

"Through this joint venture, we hope that it will be able to accelerate technology adoption, increase competitiveness, and strengthen Indonesia's position to become the center of a sustainable digital ecosystem," said Deputy President Commissioner of Digital Realty Bersama, Setyanto Hantoro at the BDIA Strategic Cooperation Press Conference with Digital Reality on Tuesday, March 18 in Jakarta.

The launch of the Digital Realty Bersama marks the expansion of the DIGITAL Platform, the Digital Realty global data center platform consisting of 300+ facilities in more than 50+ cities in 25+ countries and six continents, into the Indonesian market.

DRB will have and operate a connected campus that includes an advanced data center that has just been launched (CGK 11) and is strategically located in Central Jakarta, coupled with other data centers (CGK 10) in the West Jakarta area.

Launched at the beginning with a TI capacity of 5 megawatts (MW), CGK 11 is expected to be able to support/mass up to 32 MW through the next expansion stage.

"Digital Realty Bersama will provide a fast, sophisticated, and well-interconnected data center capacity at the center of Jakarta," added President Director of Digital Realty Bersama, Angelo Syailendra.

Angelo also emphasized that this facility is designed to support the next wave of growth in the market, driven by high-performance computing including artificial intelligence (Al)-based advances.
