JAKARTA - Intel launched the Xeon 6 processor with Performance-cores (P-cores), which is designed to handle the workload of next-generation data centers such as AI and network infrastructure.

The latest Xeon 6 processor for use on the network and edge with the integrated Intel vRAN Boost is claimed to provide up to 2.4 times the capacity for the radio access network (RAN) workload.

With the launch of Xeon 6, interim co-CEO, Intel and CEO of Intel Products, Michelle Johnston Holthaus said that Intel is committed to presenting cutting-edge solutions to address industry's biggest challenges to boost business growth.

"The Xeon 6 processor family presents the best CPU performance in the industry for AI and innovative features for the network, while boosting efficiency and reducing total ownership costs," Michelle said.

Compared to the 5th Generation AMD EPYC processor, Xeon 6 has a 1.5x better performance in AI inference on chip even with only a third less core.

The processor leverages Intel's integrated accelerator for virtualized radio access networks (vRAN), media, AI, and network security, thus answering the increased needs of network solutions and edges in the AI-driven world.

The server system, software solutions, and Xeon 6 services will be globally available from leading companies such as AT&T, Verizon, Cisco, Dell Technologies, Samsung, Ericsson, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lenovo, Microsoft, Nutanix, Nvidia, Oracle, Red Hat, SAP, Supermicro, Vodafone, Broadcom, and Wind River, as well as many others.
