Italian Government Evaluates Starlink Network In Remote Regions

JAKARTA SpaceX, Elon Musk's space company, plans to expand its satellite business to European territory. According to news circulating, this business expansion is related to the Italian government.

Citing from a Reuters report, the South European state is evaluating the space telecommunications system developed by SpaceX. The local government wants to ensure that the network provided by Starlink is safe for use.

This evaluation is deemed necessary because the Italian government will use Starlink to support communications between governments, diplomats, and defense officials working in the Mediterranean-sensitive area.

Cooperation between the Italian government and SpaceX is the talk of the country and Musk has not covered up the partnership plan. In a post on January 6, Musk admitted that he was ready to present a satellite internet network in the country.

"(SpaceX) is ready to provide Italy with the safest and most sophisticated connectivity!" Musk wrote using his personal account. Although SpaceX looks very ready, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's office denies that the government has reached an agreement.

The plan to use the Starlink internet has been discussed for several months and the Italian government plans to test its services in the near future. They will use Starlink in the most remote areas to confirm its speed.

The big project for the Italian government is reportedly worth USD 1.6 billion (IDR 25 trillion) and will run for five years. Taking into account the long duration of the project, no wonder the discussion continues for several months.
