Meutya Hafid Invites Mothers To Become Wise Family Leaders In The Digital Age

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, invites mothers to become wise leaders in their families, especially in educating children in the digital era.

Meutya said that currently the government is reviewing the appropriate regulations regarding the safe use of the internet for children.

Just like Australia, which has set a minimum age limit for playing social media, the government is in the process of looking for the best model that is suitable to apply in Indonesia.

"In Indonesia we are still excited. We are looking for the best model that of course needs input from all of you," said Meutya in her official broadcast quoted on Thursday, December 19.

However, in addition to regulations, Meutya emphasized that the role of mothers is very important in regulating the use of the internet at home. According to her, housewives who have close relationships with children will be the first teachers in wisely utilizing digital technology.

"How can you moderate, balance the internet with books, or regulate the hours of their children. Otherwise, technology can change from friends to threats to children's growth and development," he said.

Meutya invites all women, especially mothers, to start familiarizing with the implementation of restrictions on internet use for children at home.
