Former Minister Budi Arie Examined By Kortastipidkor Polri

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) of the National Police confirmed that former Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi was being investigated by investigators.

"That's right (in the middle of investigation, ed)," said Deputy Head of Kortastipidkor Brigadier General Arief Adiharsa when contacted by media crews in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, December 17.

Regarding the reasons and substance of the examination, Arief was reluctant to explain further and directed to ask the Polda Metro Jaya about this.

"Ask the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimsus) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, has not responded to the news.

Based on the information gathered, Budi Arie has arrived at the Police Criminal Investigation Building since 10:00 WIB. However, the arrival was not known to the media crew. Based on observations at the location, until 12.24 WIB, the Awaloedin Djamin Building at Bareskrim Polri still looks deserted and Budi Arie is not seen.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya succeeded in uncovering an online gambling case involving elements of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi).

For this disclosure, Budi Arie responded positively to the police's move to arrest a number of his former subordinates at the Ministry of Communication and Trade on charges of being involved in online gambling.

"That's good, as a step by law enforcement officials, we appreciate it," he said.

Budi Arie, who served as Minister of Communication and Information in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet since July 17, 2023, has handed over all law enforcement efforts against his former subordinates to the police.
