Komdigi Blocks More Than 49 Thousand Online Gambling Sites In Five Days

JAKARTA - During the period from November 29 to December 4, 2024, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has taken action against 49,239 content related to online gambling (judol) circulating in the digital space.

In addition, Komdigi has also taken action against three Instagram accounts (IG) affiliated with online gambling, including the @literasi.story account with 439 thousand followers, @gadis.terkini 233,000 followers, and @adeliaa.ajah with 321,000 followers.

Cumulatively, since October 20 December 4, 2024, the Ministry of Communication and Industry has also taken down 464,440 online gambling content with details of 428,969 websites and IPs, 19,250 content/accounts on the Meta platform, 9,842 file sharing, 3,836 on Google/YouTube, 2,201 on platform X, 222 on Telegram, and 118 on Tiktok.

Meanwhile, since the 2017 period on December 4, 2024, the Ministry of Communication and Trade has completely blocked around 5.3 million content related to online gambling.

Acting (Plt) Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Kemkomdigi, Alexander Sabar, continues to emphasize that online gambling can be financially detrimental but also endangers mental health and threatens the security of the players' personal data.

Because according to Alex, online gambling sites often use illegal sites and do not have clear privacy policies. Personal data of players registered on online gambling sites are very vulnerable to misuse.

Alex added, it is very important for the whole community to educate themselves not to share their personal data with unclear sites or applications.

"Education by recognizing cyber crime modes. Do not carelessly spread or provide your personal data on unknown sites or applications and report incidents of data leakage to the authorities," he said.
