Kemenkomdigi Collaborates With KPAI To Improve Child Protection In The Digital Field

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology announced that it has collaborated with the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), in increasing child protection in the digital realm.

Through this collaboration, the two Ministries will create various programs, including the preparation of the Draft Government Regulation (RPP) on Child Protection Governance in the Implementation of Electronic Systems.

According to Menkomdigi Meutya Hafid, Kemkomdigi and KPAI have a shared responsibility to ensure Indonesian children are protected from digital crime threats such as cyber bullying, online stalking, exploitation of child pornography, to online gambling.

Meutya also said that the RPP, which is in the process of drafting, will be the basis for important regulations to create a safe digital space for children.

"Currently, this RPP is going through a harmonization process with relevant ministries and institutions, including KPAI. We believe this regulation will be an important step to increase child protection in the digital world," said Meutya.

Currently, the Ministry of Communication and Trade has also implemented various strategies to protect digital space from negative content. Until the end of November 2024, Komdigi has blocked more than 5.3 million online gambling content through coordination with various related parties.

Meanwhile, KPAI Chairman Ai Maryati also expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Communication and Digi for the ongoing efforts to protect Indonesian children.

"I see an increase in the number of content that has been successfully taken down, this is a real commitment of the Ministry of Communication and Industry to maintain the security of digital space for children," said Ai.

Meutya Hafid and Ai Maryati hope that this collaboration can bring significant changes in protecting Indonesian children.
