JAKARTA Last September, it was revealed that WhatsApp was developing a link verification feature that was integrated with Google Search. Before its release, the feature got a little update.

On WhatsApp beta with version 2.24.20.28, this messaging platform only features link verification on URLs shared several times. However, in the latest beta update, the link verification feature works for various types of links.

This change was first discovered by WABetaInfo via WhatsApp beta with version 2.24.22.19. Previously, the verification link feature was still being developed, now the features can be tried by all testers in the beta program.

In addition to its changing functionality, the feature's appearance has also changed. Previously, the link verification feature could be accessed via the Search hyperlink on the Web. When the visible hyperlink is tapped, the search page will appear with two options.

However, in the latest version, users will not see the hyperlink on a regular link. WhatsApp users must press the link until several options are displayed, including Copy Link, Open Link, or Get Link Info on Google.

Despite slowing user access to the link, this feature is a good step to strengthen device security. The reason is, with the rapid development of today's technology, WhatsApp users are often exposed to phishing because they click on links carelessly.

This method is also much faster than searching manually. For WhatsApp users who always verify by looking for information on their site on Google, this feature helps users not to change apps.
