Crypto Industry Players Hope Prabowo Government Can Encourage Blockchain Innovation

JAKARTA - Currently, the Indonesian crypto industry welcomes the new government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, who were officially sworn in on October 20.

As for data from the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (CoFTRA), it shows that from January to September 2024, the value of crypto transactions reached IDR 426.69 trillion, an increase of 351.97 percent compared to the same period last year.

Therefore, with this new government, the actors in the crypto industry hope that there will be regulations that support innovation, sustainable growth, and security, as well as increase the adoption of blockchain technology in Indonesia.

Subani as President Director of CFX hopes that the Indonesian crypto industry can grow rapidly and sustainably. He emphasized the importance of innovation and commitment to support government policies related to the development of the digital economy ecosystem, especially in the crypto sector.

Aspakrindo-ABI Chairman Robby also emphasized the importance of regulations that support growth without hindering innovation. Because according to him, the crypto asset industry needs a balance between consumer protection and space to innovate.

"With the right regulations, we can bring a balance between protection and innovation," Robby said in a written statement received on Wednesday, October 24.

Meanwhile, CMO Tokocrypto, Wan Iqbal also admitted that he was optimistic about the new leadership and hoped that the regulatory framework would support the growth of the crypto industry, create jobs for the younger generation, and maintain market stability and security.

"We believe the new government will continue policies that support the growth of the crypto industry, as well as create a regulatory framework that supports growth while maintaining market stability and security," said Iqbal.
