JAKARTA Honeywell has signed an agreement with Google to link artificial intelligence (AI) technology with their industrial data. The two companies stated on Monday 21 October that the purpose of this collaboration is to offer autonomous operations that are more efficient for their customers.

This collaboration will combine Google's most advanced AI technology, Gemini, with Honeywell industry data collected through its Forge platform. It aims to automate tasks and accelerate project completion times, amid challenges of labor shortages in industry.

The AI-based tool will help automate work for engineers, warehouse workers, and technicians. The first solution that utilizes AI technology is expected to be available to Honeywell customers by 2025.

"The key to autonomy is assets that work harder, people who work smarter, and have a more efficient process," said Vimal Kapur, Chair and CEO of Honeywell, in a statement.

With new AI-based agents built on Google's Vertex AI platform, these automatic tasks will help accelerate project design cycles. Honeywell also adds that users will be able to process various types of data, such as images, videos, text, and sensor readouts.

Honeywell, which seeks to take advantage of the latest developments in AI technology, aims to reduce maintenance costs, increase operational productivity, and improve employee skills through this partnership for its customers.
