JAKARTA Apple CEO Tim Cook insists that although Apple may be up to two years late in delivering artificial intelligence (AI) technology compared to other companies, Apple remains focused on optimal customer quality and experience.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Cook stressed that although Apple is not in a hurry to be the first in AI, they are determined to bring the best for its users.

"We are not the first in artificial intelligence," Cook said. "However, we have done it in a way that we think is best for customers."

Apple has actually been developing AI, although they have been calling it Machine Learning for more than a decade. The technology has been used in various Apple products, such as Siri and smart recommendations in the app. However, Apple's latest AI, called Apple Intelligence, will be a major change in how people interact with technology, according to Cook.

Quality Prioritized Over Speed

Cook explained that Apple was not in a hurry to launch this technology because the company's main focus was ensuring every product and feature was absolutely perfect before its release to the public.

"We don't mind not being the first," Cook said. "We'd rather take the time to get really great products and make meaningful contributions to our users, rather than rushing just to be first on the market."

He added that achieving an advantage in technology requires a lot of iteration and attention to details. "It takes a lot of iteration. We pay attention to every detail. Sometimes it means the process takes longer, but we prefer to launch very quality products," he explained.

One of the main features introduced by Apple through this AI technology is Apple Intelligence, which will be rolling out in stages starting October 28, 2024. Apple Intelligence offers an automated tool that can summarize information and provide smart recommendations to users. Tim Cook himself revealed that it has used this feature to manage its email inbox and save time every day.

"I rely heavily on a summary of Apple Intelligence in my inbox. It has changed my daily habits and made my life more efficient," Cook said. "If I could save time here and there, it would be something significant all day long, weeks, even a month. It's really changed my life."

Big Impact On All Users

While Tim Cook is a busy person with a lot of email coming in, he remains confident that the benefits of Apple Intelligence will be felt by all users. This technology is designed to provide comfort and change the way people work and communicate fundamentally.

"This will make a big difference," he said. "I think we will look back on this moment and realize that this is a turning point, which takes us to a different path of technology."

However, Cook also stressed that this big change may not be felt instantly by everyone, but he believes that Apple Intelligence will gradually change the way users live around the world. "The changes won't be felt right for everyone, but they will. I'm sure, this will happen for all of us," he concluded.

Apple will launch Apple Intelligence in several stages, and in various regions globally in the coming months. This launch is expected to change the way Apple users use their products more intelligently and efficiently, making AI technology an important part of their daily lives.
