Telegram Launches Telegram Gateway, Solutions To Save Phone Number Verification

JAKARTA - Telegram announced that it has launched Telegram Gateway, a new and inexpensive solution to verify the user's phone number.

So instead of using traditional SMS, this new Telegram service allows the delivery of authorization codes via the Telegram app, which offers lower costs as well as higher speed and security.

The cost of sending the code is only US $ 0.01 or around Rp. 155 silver, much cheaper than SMS verification which can reach 50 times higher.

"Now, businesses can save millions by sending verification codes to users directly via Telegram. This method is much cheaper, faster, and safer," said Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, in his broadcast channel.

For developers, Telegram Gateway will offer a variety of advantages, such as access to detailed statistics to track message volumes and analyze user growth and conversion rates.

In addition, security is also a major advantage with end-to-end encryption and verifiable open-source applications. This makes Telegram more secure than SMS vulnerable to hacking such as SIM exchange attacks.

With more than 950 million monthly active users, Telegram is one of the five most downloaded apps in the world. Via Telegram Gateway, messages sent can also be signed by official channels, strengthening relations between users and services.

Because the price imposed is very low, Durov does not believe that Telegram Gateway will be a source of company revenue. However, he hopes this initiative will make the world more efficient, reducing costs and prices for many services around the world.
