JAKARTA - Qualcomm will soon unveil its newest generation flagship mobile processor on the Snapdragon Summit which will take place on October 21. Although the official name SoC (System on Chip) has not been announced, rumors suggest that this processor may be named Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or Snapdragon 8 Elite. One of the first devices to use this chip is OnePlus 13.
A post on Weibo by OnePlus employee Cai Zuxuan said that OnePlus 13 will be equipped with a custom version of the latest Snapdragon chip which is claimed to have a significant increase in energy efficiency.
According to internal data quoted by Cai, this custom SoC is said to exceed the power efficiency of the Apple A18 Pro. If this claim is true, Qualcomm can again seize the top position in terms of smartphone chip efficiency.
The post also revealed that the public' version of this chip has lower efficiency compared to the custom version used by OnePlus.
This is not the first time a two-model approach to the Snapdragon 8 Elite has been heard. In August, a leaked datasheet revealed two variants of this SoC, namely SM8750 and SM8750P. The P variant is believed to be a model focused on performance, similar to the Galaxy'' version of Qualcomm's previous SoC flagship.

The wait for official details will not last long. Snapdragon Summit on October 21 will be an event to learn more about this new chip, its variant, and how this Qualcomm 3nm processor competes in terms of power efficiency and performance.
Based on leaks, OnePlus 13 is expected to come with a slightly curved 2K LTPO screen, a 50MP rear camera triple system, and 50W magnetic wireless charging. The smartphone is also expected to be equipped with a 5840mAh dual-cell battery, 100W SUPERVOOC fast charging support, as well as magnetic wireless charging.
Meanwhile, OnePlus competitors are also preparing to launch their flagship with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Honor has confirmed the launch of the Magic 7 series, while Xiaomi 15 and iQOO 13 are expected to debut this October.
