JAKARTA After stopping supporting the first generation Surface Duo last year, Microsoft will now do the same to the Surface Duo 2. This device will lose support in the near future.

Citing from the WindowsCentral report, Microsoft has planned a final security update for the Surface Duo 2. This security patch will launch on October 21. After the patch is released, Microsoft will completely ignore the Surface Duo 2.

Although the security patch will not be updated again, this device can still be used over the next few years. However, this device is more vulnerable to security and exploitation risks because the system is not as strong as it used to be.

Actually, this is not surprising news. The first generation Surface Duo failed to attract the market when it was launched in 2020. This foldable phone also has poor specs and a poor software experience that is less in demand.

Even worse, Microsoft seemed to ignore this device by not launching its updates regularly. The operating system (OS) of the device was never updated on time until Microsoft finally ended the device's support.

The Surface Duo 2 which was released a year after the first generation had almost the same travel history. At a price of 1,500 US dollars (Rp23 million), this device has poor battery life, inconsistent camera performance, and more.

The software is also often problematic, just like the previous device model, so the end of support for this device is not so surprising. Apparently, Microsoft will not release a next-generation Surface Duo.
