JAKARTA - On October 6, 2024, reliable sources revealed that Apple Intelligence's artificial intelligence features will be launched as part of the iOS 18.1 update on October 28, 2024.

This update will present some advanced AI tools, including writing tools, removal of objects in photos, and several other features. However, for more advanced AI features, such as the updated Siri, users will have to wait until March 2025.

Apple previously announced the iPhone 16 last month, but the anticipated Apple Intelligence feature was not immediately available at the launch. Now, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, in his Power On bulletin, confirmed the launch date of this AI feature.

According to Gurman's source, Apple deliberately delayed the launch to ensure all bugs were fixed and cloud servers were ready to accommodate a surge in user traffic.

In this initial release, iOS 18.1 users will be able to access tools such as rewriting, proofreading, ranking, natural language-based search for photos, and Clean Up feature to remove objects in photos. In addition, users will be able to create videos from their photo memory with just a prompt.

Apple has stated that additional AI features will be rolled out in stages by the end of 2024 and the following months. The iOS 18.2 update is expected to feature Genmoji and integration with ChatGPT, while the iOS 18.4 update in March 2025 will introduce an upgraded Siri version with more advanced AI capabilities.

Although Apple Intelligence's launch is still limited to some of its early features, Apple is currently trying to catch up with Google and Samsung, which have launched the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 9 with AI capabilities from the start.
