JAKARTA Meta revealed that they will invest artificial intelligence (AI) innovation into Vietnam. This statement was made when the President of Global Meta Affairs, Nick Clegg, came to the country.

Quoted from Reuters, Clegg explained that this plan includes the expansion of the AI-based devices they developed. Meta wants to produce a mixed reality headset (MR) in Vietnam starting next year.

"Starting in 2025, Meta will expand production of its newest Mixed Reality device, Quest 3S, to Vietnam," Clegg said. The Meta official did not specify how much investment they would invest in the country.

Clegg also did not explain whether Quest 3S would be produced through a new supplier in Vietnam. Clegg only revealed that Vietnam is one of the potential countries for its companies. The reason is, there are many consumers from the country.

"Vietnam continues to be an important country for Meta. Millions of small businesses and consumers rely on our platform," Clegg said. In line with Clegg's statement, social media platforms from Meta do have millions of users from the country.

In addition to expanding MR technology to Vietnam, Meta will also focus on improving languages for the country. Clegg added that Meta will test Vietnamese into its AI model, Meta AI.

The company revealed that Vietnamese for Meta AI will be tested later this year, following Business AI testing for Messenger in the country. Clegg did not specify a more specific time for testing the language.
