Last month, the Wall Street Journal first reported that Apple was involved in the negotiations, as part of OpenAI's new fundraising effort that could put the ChatGPT-making company's valuation above $100 billion.
The surge in valuation was triggered by competition in the AI sector that has been heating up since the ChatGPT launch at the end of 2022, prompting companies in various industries to invest billions of dollars to maintain their position in the market and seize market share in AI technology.
