JAKARTA Meta launched a Youth Instagram Account for children under 18 years of age. This account is equipped with built-in protection that can limit content and interaction under the supervision of parents.
This account is not only provided for new users, but for all children registered as teenagers. Automatically, their account will fall into the Youth Instagram Account category. For users under the age of 16, their account requires parental control.
Adolescent Instagram accounts are created to address parental concerns as long as their children use social media. By creating this category, parents can reduce unsafe and inappropriate experiences for their children.
"This new experience is designed to better support parents and gives them peace of mind that their teenage children are safe with the right protection," Meta said, quoted from its official website.
The company added that teens will get new features specifically designed for them. With this feature, they can see more of the topics they want in Search. Youth Account Recommendations will also be adapted to selected topics.

"Remaja will be placed in the strictest message settings, so they can only send messages by people they follow or who are already connected to them," explains Meta.
Meta will limit Youth Accounts from fight content and content promoting cosmetics at Explore and Reels. App usage time will also be limited to 60 minutes per day. Through the set time, users will get a warning.
