JAKARTA - Alibaba Cloud together with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) and the West Java Provincial Government, have successfully organized the 2nd GenAI Hackathon in Jakarta.

Hackathon is held to provide opportunities for developers in Indonesia to create innovative AI-based solutions in overcoming daily problems, especially in the fields of transportation, waste management, and digital literacy.

"This event not only encourages innovation in the AI sector but also provides participants with the opportunity to hone their skills using the latest technology available in Alibaba Cloud," said Sean Yuan, Country Manager of Indonesia, Alibaba Cloud in a statement received on Wednesday, September 11.

Yuan also said that Alibaba Cloud is committed to continuing to support local talents in Indonesia in responding to social challenges with practical and effective AI-based solutions.

In this event, the Head of the Human Resources Development Agency, Ministry of Communication and Information, Hary Budiarto, also emphasized the importance of activities such as Hackathon in supporting the Indonesian government's vision of developing digital talent.

"GenaI Hackathon 2024 is an important step in our journey to strengthen Indonesia's digital ecosystem. AI-based innovations like this will play an important role in promoting efficiency, creativity, and economic growth in various sectors," said Hary.

Along with, Hary said that the Kominfo Human Resources Development Agency currently also has a generationative AI training through the Digitalent Training program in the Microcredential Certification and Thematic Academy programs.

Attended by 15 industry mentors from Alibaba Cloud International, DKatalis, other leading technology companies in Indonesia, and more than 120 participants, in the 2nd GenAI Hackathon, the participants had the opportunity to use the Model Studio, PAI (Platform for AI), and Alibaba Cloud's AnalyticDB services in developing their solutions.
