JAKARTA After more than a month of being led by temporary officials, Firefly Aerospace finally appointed a new CEO on Thursday, August 29. Starting October 1, Jason Kim will be CEO of Firefly Aerospace.

Prior to joining Firefly, Kim was the CEO of the Millennium Space Systems for nearly four years. After Kim decided to leave the company, the subsidiary of Boeing will be led by a new CEO.

Kim is not only a career at the Millennium Space Systems. The new CEO of Firefly was once the executive leader, program management, and other positions at Raytheon Intelligence & Space, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, to the US Air Force.

Kirk Konert, Chairman of the Firefly Aerospace Council, revealed that Kim has qualified capabilities in the space and aerospace industry. Kim also had good performance while leading other companies so he was chosen as the new CEO.

"His proven ability to lead a high-performance team and implement strategic growth initiatives makes him the ideal leader for Firefly Aerospace," Konert said. "We believe under his leadership, Firefly will continue to reach an important milestone."

After joining on October 1, Kim will lead more than 700 employees who have prepared an Alpha rocket launch mission, a Blue Ghost spacecraft landing on the Moon, to an Elytra vehicle targeted to launch by the end of this year.

"I am honored to join this unstoppable team and hope to continue to build Firefly's success and lead the company towards a new era of achievement that determines the categories in this industry," said Kim.

Kim will fill a vacant position because Bill Weber, former CEO of Firefly Aerospace, left the company after being caught in an inappropriate relationship with employees. Weber is also considered to have destabilized the company's culture since 2022.
