Tecno Introduces Phantom Ultimate 2, Tri-Fold Revolutionary Phone At IFA 2024

JAKARTA - At the IFA 2024 technology conference in Berlin, Tecno made a breakthrough by introducing Phantom Ultimate 2, a revolutionary tri-fold concept phone. The move comes amid preparations for the brand to release other foldable phones, Phantom V Fold 2 and V Flip 2. This announcement comes before the launch of the world's first trifold foldable phone anticipated by Huawei in September in China.

Phantom Ultimate 2 is the successor to Tecno's first concept phone, Phantom Ultimate, which was introduced last year in IFA 2023. This first version is equipped with a screen that can be rolled from a size of 6.55 inches to 7.11 inches in just 1.3 seconds. This time, Tecno is back with a new concept, which is the design of a trifold on Phantom Ultimate 2 which is of interest because of its innovation.

Phantom Ultimate 2 has a slim profile, with a thickness of only 11mm when folded, making it thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 which has a thickness of 12.1mm. This phone is equipped with a new hinge design and an ultra-thin battery cover with a thickness of only 0.25mm, made of highly compressed Titan Advanced Fiber material.

When folded, Phantom Ultimate 2 has a 6.48-inch screen, but when fully opened, the screen turns into a 10-inch OLED 3K panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio. This phone supports various fold modes, including laptop-like configurations, media display mode, and tent mode, which is ideal for dual screen tasks such as real-time translation. The pixels are also tested for durability, capable of holding up to 300,000 folds.

Tecno has also optimized the Phantom Ultimate 2 software to increase multitasking on three vertical windows at once as well as provide wallpapers that can fit into various fold scenarios. In addition, the device is equipped with a triple camera unit at the back for photography purposes. When the phone screen is fully expanded, the device really shows a unique trifold design advantage.

As a concept phone, Phantom Ultimate 2 is an experimental device that shows advanced designs or technologies that may not be available on current products. This kind of phone is usually used to demonstrate the potential of future technology, but is generally not meant to be released commercially, so it is unlikely that this device will be available for purchase.

With the launch of Phantom Ultimate 2, Tecno is once again showing its innovation in the world of technology, showing a future full of new possibilities in the design and function of folding phones.
