Hundreds of Hotel Business Google Accounts in Indonesia Hacked, Here's Google's Response!

JAKARTA - Google Indonesia claims to be working to restore the system of several Google Business accounts of hotels in Indonesia that were recently hacked by irresponsible people.

In an official statement posted on X, the tech giant said that they continue to work around the clock to combat activities that violate policies.

They also admitted that after the attack, all affected business accounts experienced an unnoticed change in data. Because the perpetrators changed the hotel account number and hotel telephone number to their personal numbers.

"We understand that there are issues with information on Business Profiles. Our policies clearly state that user-generated changes must be based on factual information, and our team works around the clock to combat activity that violates our policies. We…"

"We experienced a technical issue that impacted information changes on some business profiles and have implemented a fix to prevent incorrect changes from occurring again. We are also in the process of restoring accurate information," Google wrote on X.

Previously, the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) had acknowledged the truth of the hacking of Google Business accounts that affected several hotels in Indonesia.

"This hacking did not only happen in Surabaya, several big cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Semarang, Denpasar, Makassar, were also hacked," said the Daily Chair of the Regional Coordinator (Korwil) of PHRI Surabaya Puguh Sugeng Sutrisno, as reported by ANTARA.

In fact, the General Chair of PHRI, Hariyadi BS Sukamdani said that they would immediately report the hacking case of Google Business accounts belonging to a number of hotels to the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
