JAKARTA Meta, the company that oversees Facebook and Instagram, is trying to expand Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to more of its devices. This time, their target is Quest headsets. "AI has been the driving force of our consumer hardware from the start," Meta said through its official website. "We are excited because more and more people will take advantage of Meta AI's power, intelligence, and usefulness in Quest 3. The company says that Meta AI will launch on the mixed reality headset (MR) Quest this summer. Currently, Meta AI for Quest is being tested in its early stages with some still being developed functions. By adding Meta AI to Quest, users can ask questions about the physical environment in real-time. For example, when a dog passes around, users can ask questions about the dog. In addition, users can ask for suggestions about anything, be it's how to dress up, weather information, to recommendations for a place to eat. All this could be done because Meta AI will serve as a smart assistant at the headset.

"You can get weather forecasts so you can prepare for the weather and even ask for local restaurant recommendations to satisfy your culinary tastes," explains Meta. Before Meta AI for Quest is launched in a stable version, Meta will test its AI technology first. The experimental mode of Meta AI will roll out to a small fraction of Quest users in the US and Canada in the near future. The plan, this testing mode will be extended to other countries over time. Meta does not explain whether Meta AI will only be released in Quest 3 or will be added to older MR headsets.
