JAKARTA - OnePlus is developing a new feature called Video Battery Saver which aims to reduce battery consumption in certain video player applications. The feature is currently under development and is likely to come with an Android 15 update for OnePlus devices.

In the latest APK analysis, found the Battery Saver Video feature on the second Android 15 beta update for OnePlus 12. This feature comes together with other power-saving settings on the device. The description of this feature states that this feature automatically "optimizes battery usage when the supported video app is draining the battery."

Although the description does not elaborate on the underlying battery optimization, it is stated that this feature can affect the video viewing experience. Strings related to this feature further highlight that this feature can affect video, audio, and haptic quality. However, since this feature is not working yet, it is not certain whether battery savings will be commensurate with the sacrifice.

In addition to the Battery Saver Video feature, the latest Android 15 beta update from OnePlus also mentions a Charging Limit feature that will limit battery levels to 80% when the device has been charged for too long to slow down battery aging.

The screenshots found show power saving settings with a toggle for Battery Saver Videos on OnePlus 12, which provides a clearer picture of the features under development.
