JAKARTA - The company's service unit Comcast has signed a deal with SpaceX's Starlink to provide satellite-based connectivity to business customers in areas with limited network access. This is according to a statement by the global media and technology company on Friday, June 21.

This agreement is the first of its kind between network operators and satellite networks to provide space-based connectivity to company customers.

The move further strengthens Starlink's position as a leader in satellite-based communications networks, ahead of new competitors such as Kuiper from Amazon.com and Viasat.

The rocket maker, led by Elon Musk, operates the largest constellation of communication satellites and provides internet connectivity to household and business customers, especially in locations with limited internet access or none at all.

Starlink also has a partnership with T-Mobile to provide satellite-based connectivity to its customers at locations without mobile signals.

In April, Comcast reported having about 2.5 million business customers for broadband services in the United States by the end of the first quarter, generating revenue of around USD 2.41 billion (IDR 39.7 trillion).
