JAKARTA - The Ford Motor Co manufacturer will make a massive recall for its 2.9 million cars in North America. This was done because of the problem with Takata's airbag.

Quoted from Reuters, the recall will be made officially to Ford vehicle owners, starting April 1. The recall was made after US security regulators discovered potential damage to the driver's Takata airbag.

The second-largest US automaker said in January it would comply with a request by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and a recall would cost USD 610 million.

The flaw, which in a rare case causes the airbag inflator to burst and send potentially lethal shards of metal fly, prompted the biggest auto recalls in US history with more than 67 million inflators.

Earlier, this month, Ford also recalled dozens of shipments of its SUV, the first Mach-E Mustang after finding loose bolts during a quality check that was holding up shipments to customers.

"Some vehicles may have subframe bolts that suppliers do not tighten to specifications," wrote Ford, some time ago.

"Even though the problem with the affected vehicle does not comply with Ford standards, the company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition," the US auto manufacturer added.

Ford said as many as 1,258 Mach-E Mustangs were affected in the US, as well as 90 in Canada, but most had not yet been delivered to customers.

"Fewer than 75 customers who have taken delivery have to take their Mach-E Mustang in for repair," the company said. Ford also said it would start contacting the owners of this car starting March 22.
