Stellantis gives cash injection to Fiat (Forbes)

JAKARTA - Alfa Romeo and Lancia car manufacturers reportedly received funds from Stellantis, where the car manufacturer of Fiat Chrysler has merged with the French PSA.

This was disclosed by the chairman of Stellantis, John Elkann in an interview. Stellantis is the fourth largest multinational car manufacturer in the world.

The company was officially founded in January 2021, after Fiat Chrysler (FCA) and the carmaker Peugeot successfully completed the merger, a few years ago. As reported by Reuters. Friday, March 12th.

When he was asked about what role Fiat would play at Stellantis, Elkann told Italian television station RAI saying that as part of a larger group, Fiat would have a greater chance.

"We have seen clearly some brands like Alfa Romeo and Lancia, where we have not been able to invest or provide as many resources as we wanted in recent years", said Elkann who led FCA's merger with PSA.

"In this new group there will be much bigger opportunities than in the past for these two brands, which are based in Turin", he added.

Stellantis created a new market with Alfa Romeo, Lancia, and PSA to work together to target high-end market share.

However, it is not yet known whether funds will be made for the development of electric cars or not. The reason is, most car manufacturers are currently flocking to produce electric cars.
