Apple Workers In Maryland Support Strike, While Workers In New Jersey Refuse To Indicate

JAKARTA - Workers at Apple stores in Towson, Maryland, voted in favor of a strike. This was said by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (AIM) in a statement on Saturday, May 11. The date for the strike has yet to be decided, according to a union representing Apple retail store workers in Maryland.

"The issues that are a priority in this action include concerns about the balance of work life, unpredictable scheduling practices that interfere with personal life, and wages that are not in line with the cost of living in the area," IAM said in a statement.

"We will interact with the unions representing our team in Towson with respect and good faith," said an Apple spokesperson.

In June 2022, Apple workers in Maryland voted to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union, becoming the technology giant's first retail employee to work in the United States.

Meanwhile, workers at Apple stores in Short Hills, New Jersey, voted against sneezing, Bloomberg News reported last Saturday.

Communications Workers of America (CWA), which filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Council (NLRB) over the alleged destruction of an illegal union by Apple in New Jersey stores and others, blamed the defeat on the company's behavior.

Apple's retail staff at the New Jersey store have submitted a union representation with Communications Workers of America on April 8, according to John Nagy, who is the head of operations at the Short Hills store and members of the organizing committee.

Apple did not respond to a request for comment on the vote of refusing to synergize. CWA and NLRB did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the media regarding Bloomberg's report on workers' voices in New Jersey.
