JAKARTA - Through the Camera Innovation Event 2021, Realme introduced its newest camera technology. Realme's Camera Development Team Alessio Bradde revealed that this technology will be implanted by the company in the Realme 8 Pro series which will be launched soon.

As if to make fans curious, Realme shared how superior technology and features are the 108MP lenses. Examples include the 108MP main camera with a 3x zoom sensor and an improved image processing algorithm.

In more detail, the VOI team has summarized the four main features found in this latest Realme camera technology.

The 108MP camera will be the main camera for Realme 8 Pro

As stated by Alessio, this brand-new camera technology will be used on the Realme 8 Pro. This camera uses the Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor. The sensor was introduced by Samsung in September last year.

The new sensor is 15 percent smaller than its predecessor - 0.8μm. In addition, Samsung has also reduced the width of the module by up to 10 percent. In it, there is 9-to-1 pixel binning technology, ISOCELL Plus, Smart ISO, and 3x zoom without any reduction in sharpness.

Meanwhile, the 3x zoom capability without reduced sharpness was introduced by Realme as an "in-sensor zoom". Realme has also added an algorithm that can improve clarity. So, Realme 8 Pro is able to produce images with a high level of detail.

Star Photo Mode with Time-Lapse Video

Alessio claims that the Realme 8 Pro will be the first mid-range cellphone to carry a star photo mode with a time-lapse video. The company explains that this new mode uses a video time-lapse algorithm on star photos to produce different time-lapse videos.

This mode only takes 480 seconds to store 30 photos of the sky at night. From the 30 photos, a time-lapse video can be produced with a 1 second delay.

Tilt-shift photography

Some call it tilt-shift photography. However, more and more photographers are familiar with it as tilt-shift photography. And typically, photographers understand tilt-shift as the type of lens used to capture entire buildings in straight, parallel lines - without any distortion of perspective.

On the 108MP camera, Realme also introduced a brand-new software called Tilt-Shift Photography Mode. This mode is run based on an algorithm developed by Realme for taking tilt-shift photos. Not only that, but Realme 8 Pro is also capable of recording time-lapse videos via tilt-shift mode.

In tilt-shift photography, users will have a large selection of settings. Through this settings menu, users can adjust the shape, angle, location, and bokeh effects. There is also an option to change the transition effect between the part that is the focus of the image to the blurred part.

New Portrait Filter

Realme 8 Pro is also equipped with several new Portrait Filter options. The company hopes that users can optimize camera shots using these filters. The filter options provided include Neon Portrait, Dynamic Bokeh Portrait, and AI Color Portrait.

In this virtual event, the company didn't just introduce sensors just now. Realme also expressed its interest in offering camera technology innovations to the market. Later, these innovations will be embedded in only selected devices.
