Apple Watch Cancels Using MicroLED Screen

JAKARTA Apple originally planned to add microLED screens to their latest wearable devices. However, in early March, they canceled a microLED order from one of the companies. A few weeks after the order was canceled, the company reportedly gave up on a microLED usage plan. Based on a Bloomberg report, Apple felt the microLED screen was too expensive to use. In addition, this screen is difficult to develop so there is no hope of using microLED. This report reinforces rumors previously spread by Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple's analysis, on the X platform. Ming said Apple canceled using internal microLED because production costs are too high. This need will make it difficult for Apple to produce viable devices from an economic perspective.

As a result of the termination of the Apple Watch creation project with a microLED screen, Apple cut some work in Apple's screen manufacturing facilities. The affected employees are workers in engineering. To date, Apple is still producing their wearable devices using the OLED screen. The use of this type of screen makes the panel have maximum brightness so that sunlight will not bounce off. It is not known the benefits behind the use of microLED screens. However, Bloomberg had reported that Apple wanted to change the Apple Watch screen to reduce its dependence on display design from companies like Samsung.
