JAKARTA - China's central bank, the People's Bank of China, has published digital yuan service guidelines for foreign tourists. This guide facilitates the use of e-CNY, the central bank digital currency (CBDC), for contactless transactions while in China. International tourists can now enjoy easy payments through official applications connected to their cards.

According to Cryptonews information, the e-CNY app, available on App Store and Google Play, allows the opening of digital yuan wallets without requiring a bank account in China. The registration process supports phone numbers from more than 210 countries and regions, and even allows anonymous opening of wallets. For anonymous users, the payment limit per transaction is 2,000 yuan (around Rp31,370,000) and the daily accumulation limit is 5,000 yuan (around Rp78,425,000).

Users can fill in their digital wallet balances through connected accounts and use these funds to shop online or at local traders who support e-CNY. Unused balances can be returned to connected accounts. The central bank also states cooperation with other international card schemes to expand the reach of this service.

In Hong Kong's Special Administrative Region, the "Faster Payment System" feature allows free wallet recharging through Hong Kong's banking account. Users can also request a conventional card or card-shaped e-ink wallet, as well as make mobile payments by scanning or displaying a QR code.

This initiative is part of China's efforts to integrate digital yuan into a global payment system and marks an important step in the evolution of the cryptocurrency market. e-CNY offers a stable and integrated alternative for international tourists.
