JAKARTA - On the web, only a few Google applications and services offer night mode. Now, dark mode is available for Google Drive websites.

If this update has appeared for you, when you open the Google Drive website, you will be greeted with a prompt that says New! Dark mode” and “Continue to enjoy Drive in the dark.”

After that, to apply dark mode tap the gear icon in the top right corner > Settings > General > Display. You'll have to set it manually, as this dark mode won't automatically follow your device's theme.

According to 9to5google's findings, this dark mode will only apply to file viewing. Meanwhile, for Document, Spreadsheet, Slide, etc. views. will never change. The background (sidebar, search bar, etc.) will look lighter and a bit gray, while the inner container will be darker/black.

Unfortunately, this dark mode has only been rolled out to a few users, meaning this feature has not yet been rolled out widely. Let's hope Google releases it globally soon in the future.

Apart from Google Drive, Google Keep, Chat, and Gmail, the website also offers a dark theme. However, when compared to mobile devices, the availability of night-friendly displays on this website is somewhat limited.
