YOGYAKARTA Science reveals the cause of February 2024 being the hottest month in world history. The existence of this phenomenon makes it the ninth month in a row with a record high heat temperature. In fact, global sea surface temperatures are also at the highest position ever recorded in history.

This information is based on information released by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) which states that the record for the hottest temperature on planet Earth was recorded in February 2024. For this reason, the ninth monthly record breaking occurred in a row.

The C3S also explained that the period from February 2023 to January 2024 recorded for the first time that the Earth was at 1.5 degrees Celsius hotter in 12 consecutive months than the pre-industrial era.

Meanwhile, the world average temperature over the past year, namely between March 2023 and February 2024, is the highest as long as the record is 1.56 C above the pre-industrial level. This condition makes the earth temporarily exceed the 1.5 C threshold, which in the long term is believed to have a bad impact on climate change.
