JAKARTA - The more advanced the technology, the more sophisticated the way for cybercriminals to carry out their evil actions. Throughout 2023, Kaspersky revealed that it has protected 31.4 percent of users in Indonesia from online threats.
In 2023, Kaspersky experts managed to find an Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) campaign targeting iOS devices, called Triangulation Operations.
Following further analysis, researchers found that the cyber threat perpetrators targeted iOS devices belonging to dozens of company employees, distributing zero-click exploits via iMessage to run malware and gain complete control of user devices and data.
This triangulation operation was first discovered by Kaspersky using the original information security and event management (SIEM) solution, namely Kaspersky Unified Monitoring and Analysis Platform (KUMA).
Through these findings, Kaspersky proved that there is no system that is truly 100 percent safe. In fact, the iOS system which is claimed to be safe has also found vulnerabilities in it.
"So if for example there are friends who convey iOS first, it's safe, not really. Finally, we also found (certificates). And it was acknowledged by friends from Apple, finally an update was released," said Dony Koesmandarian as Territory Manager, Kaspersky Indonesia on Tuesday, February 27 in Jakarta.
Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager for Southeast Asia in Kaspersky also added that in terms of cybersecurity, the most secure operating system can even be compromised.
"Because the APT players continue to develop their tactics and are looking for new weaknesses to exploit. This involves providing the latest tools for employees and technical teams to effectively recognize and defend themselves from potential threats and incident reductions on time," he added.
