JAKARTA - Motorola Solutions announced on Wednesday 14 February that it has acquired a remote thermal specialist camera from England, Silent Sentinel, to strengthen the security capabilities of their video at locations such as airports and oil and gas facilities.

The US company's Chief Technology Officer, Mahesh Saptharishi, said Silent Sentinels had "extraordinary forces" in the field of thermographic imagination, with their cameras capable of detecting anomalies up to 30 kilometers away.

According to him, their technology is very valuable at the airport, where large areas should be protected from threats such as drones.

"When you combine a very accurate thermal zoom camera with an integrated radar module, it gives you the ability to quickly detect potential targets approaching the perimeter," he said in an interview.

Motorola Solutions, formed when Motorola split itself into two in 2011, focused on public security and enterprise products and services, and has expanded its video operations through a series of acquisitions in recent years.

"This company has invested around USD 12 billion (IDR 187.7 trillion) in research and development and acquisition since 2015," Saptharishi said. The provisions for the agreement with Silent Sentinel were not disclosed.
