Instagram And Threads Stop Recommending Political Content

JAKARTA Instagram realizes that not everyone likes passing political content on their social media accounts. According to Instagram, this needs to be handled to improve user experience.

So that users can use Instagram comfortably, they will stop recommending political content proactively. They will also eliminate the recommendation on a separate platform on Instagram, namely Threads.

This update will apply to public accounts and in several Instagram features, namely Explore, Reels, and In-Feed. In addition, Instagram will also control user recommendations that are recommended if the accounts displayed are related to politics.

Although the recommendations will be terminated, Instagram will not hinder political content from various accounts that users follow. All political content from the accounts you follow will still be displayed as long as it meets Instagram requirements.

"If political content, related to matters such as laws, elections, or social topics, is posted by an unqualified account for recommendation, the account content can still reach its followers on Feed and Story," explained Instagram.

In the coming weeks, Instagram will stop recommendations for political content automatically. However, this recommendation system can still be regulated by users. In the near future, political content controls will be visible in Settings.

If people still want to view this kind of political content on Threads and Instagram recommendation platforms, there will be controls for people to choose to view it. This control will also be launched on Facebook at a later date, "said Instagram.

Later, control of this political content will be added to the Recommended Content menu. Right below the Sensitive Content, users will see the Political Content option with two options, namely Limiting and Not Limiting.
