Vitalik Buterin: The New Generation Must Be Ready To Lead The Crypto World

JAKARTA - Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum (ETH), recently wrote a blog expressing his views on the development of the crypto industry and the role he plays. In his writing, Buterin admits that he is no longer a central figure in the crypto space, and invites a new generation to take over responsibility to advance the crypto industry.

Buterin, who was born in 1994, is one of the pioneers in blockchain and crypto. He became interested in Bitcoin in 2011, and in 2013, he proposed the idea of Ethereum, a platform that allows the development of decentralized applications (dApps) using smart contracts. Ethereum was launched in 2015, and has since become one of the most popular and influential crypto projects.

However, Buterin realized that he could not always be a leader in the crypto world, which continues to grow and innovate. He mentioned that he sees many younger individuals from him, who have extraordinary talents and visions, taking leadership roles in various crypto projects. He also realized that the crypto industry had changed from the start, with different challenges and opportunities.

Buterin said he had been shifting in his way of thinking and interest over the past few years. He said he was no longer focused on the economic and mathematical aspects of crypto, but was more interested in other areas, such as research on irreversibility and ethics. He also said he felt more comfortable being an advisor and mentor, rather than being a decision maker.

Buterin also mentioned the case of Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of FTX, a crypto exchange that went bankrupt and was charged with fraud and money laundering. Buterin said that he once admired Bankman-Fried, who is known as one of the richest and most influential crypto figures. However, he was disappointed when he learned that Bankman-Fried had committed crimes that harm many people.

Buterin invites a new generation to learn from Bankman-Fried mistakes, and to lead the crypto world in a more responsible and ethical way. He said that the crypto world needs a leader who has integrity, competence, and a clear vision. He also said that he is ready to support and help those who want to make positive changes in the industry.
