NASA Will Commemorate The Apollo 1 Tragedy, A History That Leaves Grief

JAKARTA The United States (NASA) Aeronautics and Space Agency will commemorate the tragedy of Apollo 1. This honorary event will be held again in honor of the victims and their families.

NASA will hold the Apollo 1 Commemoration Day on Thursday, January 25 at the Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia at 13.00 local time. The event will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of Unknown Soldiers.

In addition to holding a commemoration ceremony, NASA will also hold a city hall meeting or a large meeting attended by all employees, from leaders to ordinary employees, regardless of level or hierarchy.

The meeting will be held by NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy, and NASA Association Administrator Jim Free at NASA Headquarters on Tuesday, January 23 at 13.00 local time.

During the city hall meeting, employees will discuss and NASA officials will discuss the importance of safety to achieve mission success. The meeting will be broadcast live on theNASA+ streaming service.

Apart from Headquarters, NASA's agency center will also commemorate this day of mourning. Some centers of institutions that will commemorate the Apollo 1 tragedy are the Johnson Space Center, the Kennedy Space Center, and the Maritime Research Center.

Furthermore, there is the Glenn Research Center, penelitikan Research Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, and the Stennis Space Aviation Center. The seven centers of this institution will hold warnings in different ways.

Apollo 1 is NASA's darkest history. In 1967, the country's agency was pursuing an ambitious mission of landing on the Moon and Apollo 1 was their first program.

On January 27 of that year, NASA held its first test for the Apollo to lunar launch. The test did not go well as the three astronauts inside the Apollo capsule caught fire and died.

The failure of this test occurred in a short time and NASA technicians struggled to open the capsule door. The new door opened five minutes after the fire appeared in the capsule, but all three astronauts were already on fire and died on the spot.
