Kominfo Gercep Takedown Content Containing Hoax Ahead Of The 2024 General Election

Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that the Ministry of Communication and Information continues to strive to deal with hoax issues that are scattered on digital platforms ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous General Election.

Budi revealed, until January 2, 2024, Kominfo has succeeded in handling 203 hoax issues related to the 2024 General Election, out of the total distribution on digital platforms of 2,882 content.

In detail, Kominfo identified 1,325 content on the Facebook platform, 947 content on the X platform, 198 content on Instagram, 342 content on TikTok, 36 content on Snack Video and 34 content on the Youtube platform.

Furthermore, Budi also admitted that he had asked for or submitted a request for takedown or follow-up to 1,399 other election hoax issues that still appear on digital platforms.

"Of the total 2,882 content, all of them have been submitted for takedown and 1,399 content has been taken down and the remaining 1,483 are being followed up," Budi said in his official broadcast on Wednesday, January 3.

According to him, the issue of hoaxes regarding the 2024 General Election during 2023 there were 189 issues, with a major increase occurring in November - December 2023, which coincided with the 2024 election campaign period.

Not to forget, the Minister of Communication and Information reminded all parties, especially the 2024 Election contestants, to take an active role in keeping the digital space safe and comfortable during the 2024 General Election.
