JAKARTA - After officially issuing a Circular Letter from the Minister of Communication and Information Technology regarding Artificial Intelligence Ethics, the Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that Kominfo is currently preparing binding regulations.
Because at this time, the Circular issued by Kominfo is only ethical and has no legal force, so, if there is a violation, it will be directed to the laws in force in Indonesia, including the ITE Law and the PDP Law.
"This SE is not legally binding, because it is ethical. Second, we are drafting a legally binding regulation," Budi said at a press conference issuing the SE Minister of Communication and Information on AI Ethics on Friday, December 22 in Jakarta.
Budi Arie Setiadi also mentioned that until now the Ministry of Communication and Informatics is still drafting regulations on artificial intelligence, which will later be submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR).
"When it comes to laws that are legally binding, we have to talk to the legislature, this is going to be an election, so wait for the process of forming the legislature to be formed first, we will take it to the prolegnas, if we have to talk to the DPR, and the DPR is now heading for the next election," explained Budi.

"What is certain is that now Kominfo is continuing to prepare, this SE is a bridge for us to lead to a more comprehensive law, regarding the law that regulates this AI, but we also see the progress, what developments will occur in society," added Budi Arie Setiadi.
Meanwhile, the SE that has been issued is expected to serve as a guideline for entrepreneurs of artificial intelligence-based programming activities in the organizers of the Electronic System (PSE) in the public and private scope.
