The Importance Of Digital Transformation In Increasing The Add Value Of Hospital Services

JAKARTA - Kearney's latest study on "Regeneration through the PULSE of digital hospitals: achieving operational excellence to provide value-based care", shows that hospitals are now starting to realize the importance of digital transformation.

This transformation is also in line with President Joko Widodo's vision of encouraging hospitals to convert their service system into a Smart Hospital, by introducing the One Sehat Mobile application, as an extension of the PeduliLindung application.

"We really appreciate the government's commitment and initiative to change health facilities, especially hospitals, because they have increased public access to health services," said Shirley Santoso, Partner and President Director of Kearney in a statement, quoted Thursday, December 7.

In this study, Shirley believes that incorporating cutting-edge digital technology will be able to bring patients closer to added value-based care.

"Utilizing AI can help hospitals develop services, including chatbots involving patients, clinical decision assistance, language translation, drug interaction examining, and patient handling," he explained further.

In addition, Kearney's report also highlights that hospitals often face various obstacles, including inadequate funding, conflicting business priorities, a lack of quality workforce, and limited capacity to translate data into practical insights.

According to the discovery of the Kearney study, the digital transformation of the health system in Asia is still in its early stages which prioritizes only improving processes, demand management, preventive health, and technological empowerment.

Thus, this transformation is still categorized as lagging behind compared to other industries that have reached the digital maturity stage, such as telecommunications and retail. Therefore, there is an urgent demand for digital health services that require adjustment and autonomous.
