JAKARTA - The social media platform from ByteDance, TikTok appears to be testing the user's ability to upload longer videos, which is 15 minutes.

First discovered by social media consultant Matt Navarra on Threads, he posted screenshots of messages displayed to select users who have access to new options.

"Upload up to 15 minutes of video! Make sure your application is up-to-date, then try uploading from your application or desktop on tiktok.com," wrote the message uploaded by Navarra, quoted Tuesday, October 24.

TikTok later confirmed to TechCrunch, and said the new upload limit was being tested in certain areas with limited user groups, but declined to provide further details.

TikTok initially gained fame as the most popular short video platform, but slowly began to receive long content.

At the start of its launch, TikTok had a video upload duration of only 15 seconds, which was then expanded to 60 seconds. After that, the company increased the maximum video duration to 10 minutes, up from three minutes in February 2022.

This expanded video duration will give content creators more time and flexibility when sharing things like cooking recipes, beauty tutorials, educational content, and comedy sketches.

Recently, TikTok has also introduced an Out of Phone program for partners and brands who want to cooperate with their platforms. With this program, TikTok wants to expand their reach through various outdoor means.
