JAKARTA - India's Krafton has announced the launch of its game incubator, the Krafton India Gaming Incubator (KIGI), which aims to support and expand the game ecosystem in India.

Based on its announcement, the program will provide support to six to 10 teams each year, with a total duration ranging from six months to one year.

The selected participants will also receive guidance, access to Krafton's financial resources and support, which is usually between 50,000 and 150,000 US dollars (Rp781.4 million - 2.344 billion), depending on their respective needs.

CEO of Krafton India Sean Hyunil Sohn highlighted the demand for game content in India and the need for a diverse ecosystem. The company aims to address this by providing support and resources for future talent in the game industry.

"Given the huge demand for game content (in India), the supply side is not ripe. There are many great startups and small to medium and large game developers, but I think in the ecosystem, there is a lack of diversity," said Sohn, launching TechCrunch.

For this reason, the South Korean-based company has appointed former Gamelift producer and Electronic Arts Anaj Sahani as its chief incubator program.

Sahani told TechCrunch that he, along with other executives at Krafton, would look for participants relevant through their apps and would opt for those according to the company's global standards.
